Drawbacks:If the concrete is soft or crumbly, the plastic anchor may break free and turn as you turn the screw. To fix this problem, cut an extra anchor into lengthwise strips with a utility knife and (with the screw removed) drive the strips alongside the existing anchor.
Drawbacks:At times, soft metal shield anchors can strip out, especially with larger diameters and when you apply too much torque with a wrench. Fastener failure is tough to repair. If the fastener becomes loose in the hole, remove it. Cut strips of wire solder and push them in alongside the anchor as you tap it back into the hole. The added thickness of the wire will help the shield grip the hole as you tighten the screw.

In the past few years, outdoor enthusiasts have fallen in love with hammocks. Many retailers have seen their hammock sales double, and their popularity continues to climb. Nowadays, it seems like everyone who owns a pair of hiking boots also owns a lightweight hammock, perfect for camping or even lounging around in local parks.
For people who love their hammocks, these bans have sparked outrage. But this debate is not about city officials trying to spoil everyone's fun. It's worth taking some time to unpack their reasoning so we can start to work together for a solution that satisfies everyone.
Here are a few reasons that hammock bans have been enacted, followed by some tips for more thoughtful, responsible hammocking:1. Tree protection. This is the most common reason hammocks are banned. Without leave-no-trace straps, hanging hammocks can be very harmful to trees. Thin straps or ropes can cut into their bark or strip it off entirely, which leaves the trees vulnerable to insects, fungus, animals, and the drying effects of wind and sun. Trees are an essential part of creating beautiful, welcoming, and green city spaces, and when hammocks compromise tree health, the authorities start worrying.
2. Inconsiderate placement. Sometimes, the problems have to do with inconsiderate hammock hangers rather than the hammocks themselves. Unfortunately, it's fairly common to see people who have hung hammocks over pathways or who ruin the view for other park visitors by "stacking" many hammocks on top of one another all the way up two trees. These kind of intrusions make it difficult for other people to enjoy the park or campus and give hammocking a bad reputation.
If we want to continue enjoying hammocks in city parks and on college campuses, it's important that we understand these concerns and do our best to be considerate of others. Remember to check your local regulations to avoid getting a ticket, and always use Trunk Straps or Tree Slings that will leave no trace and cause no damage to the trees. Of course, using a hammock stand will alleviate all concerns with harming trees.
If you live in a place where hammocks are banned, be considerate when making your voice heard with local officials. There are many great ways to voice your opinions and concern and help others do the same. Starting a petition is one way to show how much support your cause has.
I've had this hammock for 8 years, taken to the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness several times. Set up at our permanent campground when I'm not hiking. I also own more expensive hammocks that just don't compare to the comfort of my Skeeter Beater. The more expensive ones are narrower and shorter than my GT making shoulder squish an issue. I couldn't imagine a better hammock especially for the price until I saw the Skeeter Beater XT... Might have to get that one too.
Due to high demand of our handcrafted product and our current measures to protect the safety of our employees, please expect delays in processing and delivering of your order. We are working diligently to do our best to meet all of your needs.
When deciding to launch our line of pillowtop hammocks, we chose three of our most popular fabrics - the Gateway Indigo, Regency Sand, and Spring Bay Stripe. Since then we've added more fabric patterns and colors, but one thing hasn't changed - our commitment to quality, relaxing hammocks. When you're ready to take your relaxation to the next level, go with a pillowtop hammock, the closest you'll get to having a bed on your patio.
Aerial silks (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu) is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a specialist fabric. The fabric may be hung as two pieces, or a single piece, folded to make a loop, classified as hammock silks. Performers climb the suspended fabric without the use of safety lines and rely only on their training and skill to ensure safety. They use the fabric to wrap, suspend, drop, swing, and spiral their bodies into and out of various positions. The fabric may also be used to fly through the air, striking poses and figures. Some performers use rosin (dried or mixed with rubbing alcohol) on their hands and feet to increase the friction and grip on the fabric. Aerial silks is a demanding art and requires a high degree of strength, power, flexibility, courage, stamina, and grace to practice.
The fabrics used as silks are very strong with some give and flexibility. They are either two-way stretch spandex or nylon. The width varies depending on the routine and the acrobat. The fabric is doubled, giving the artist two strips to work with as they perform.[1]

The NeoAir line has long produced some of the best sleeping pads for thru-hiking on the market, but their low-tech air valves left a lot to be desired. The updated WingLock system is easy to use and makes accurate inflation simple. More recently, the 2023 version of this pad (NXT) boosted the R value from 6.9 to 7.3 while increasing the thickness by half an inch to three inches.
This pad is middle-of-the-road when it comes to price, weight, and R-value, but there are a few areas where it really shines compared to the competition, earning it a spot among the best thru-hiking sleeping pads of the year.
These pads actually have an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio for closed-cell foam: theoretically, stacking two 1/4-inch Thinlights would achieve the same R-value as a traditional CCF foam pad at significantly less weight. As an added bonus, they can double as backcountry dog beds, yoga mats, and hammock pads. 2ff7e9595c
