The bulk of the electives are related to financial modeling and Excel. You learn everything you need to learn to prepare for a modeling interview. You start with the foundational courses which includes business valuation modeling, budgeting and forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analysis, power point and pitchbooks etc.

I highly recommend downloading the course brochure to get a feel for what you need to learn when it comes to financial modeling. In addition to what I have already mentioned, you also focus on sensitivity and scenario analysis, modeling businesses, decision making , valuation and so on. Almost everything you need to know as a financial modeler is covered here in some shape or form.

The course starts off by laying the foundation of quantitative modeling and spreadsheets. In the second half of the course, you focus on financial concepts like cash reporting, income statements, forecasting, time value of money, the risk-return tradeoff, cost of capital, interest rates, retirement savings, mortgage financing, capital budgeting, asset valuation, discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, net present value, internal rate of return, hurdle rate, payback period and so on.

Earlier this year, I earned a certification in financial and valuation modeling through Wall Street Prep. In December of 2019 and early January of 2020, I spent more than 80 hours completing modules on accounting, financial statement modeling, and valuation modeling. This certification is important because of the impact that it will have on my future career. I want to pursue a career in investment banking, and the skills and knowledge that I learned during this certification process will help me be successful in doing that. What I learned is information that I will be able apply to not only the job itself, but interviews as well. I learned information that is vital to know for investment banking interviews, and I know that it will ultimately help me to be successful in the future.

Our experienced instructors (all former investment bankers) teach the practical application of topics most trainees have only seen on a theoretical level. The goal of the program is to prepare liberal arts students with the real-world financial & valuation modeling skill set they need to succeed in interviews and on the job. Our experienced instructors (all former investment bankers) teach the practical application of topics most trainees have only seen on a theoretical level.

Elective Courses will improve your financial modeling and business valuation skills even further. You will understand advanced modeling techniques used in particular industries or business models. The difficulty level of each course is higher than core courses.

The entire program is self-paced. You will learn mostly from video lectures. However, there are also Excel exercises and assignments that you should complete to enhance your financial modeling skills.

Thus, course fees for the complete financial modeling training from Breaking into Wall Street will top this list. I think BIWS Platinum is too expensive, so you should stick with the Financial Modeling Mastery program.

Let us look at how one can build a financial model from scratch. This detailed financial modeling guide will provide a step-by-step guide to creating a financial model. The primary approach taken in this financial modeling guide is Modular. The modular system essentially means building core statements like income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows using different modules/sheets. The key focus is to prepare each statement step by step and connect all the supporting programs to the core statements on completion. We understand that this may not be clear now. However, you will realize this is very easy as we move forward.

We must fully complete the cash flow statements before we move to our next and final schedule in this financial modeling, i.e., the debt schedule. Until this stage, there are only a couple of incomplete things.
